Cupping Therapy
One of the oldest healing methods used in TCM, cupping therapy uses heat to create a vacuum inside small glass cups which are placed on the skin to draw out toxins and release impacted nerve endings. The cups may also be placed over acupoints to stimulate qi while the therapist works on other related areas.
When cupping is combined with herbal oils applied to the skin, the cups can be moved across the surface of the body along meridians to promote qi flow, or along nerves and muscle tissue to increase circulation and promote healthy cell growth.
Cupping is particularly recommended for respiratory disorders. Its benefit in fighting common colds is not through direct combat with viruses but by stimulating the body to produce more antibodies and anti-viruses. The heat and friction makes it especially effective in relieving arthritis, sore muscles, and joints.
