Triple Burner Meridian
The Triple Burner is not a single organ, but the entire system through which the body metabolizes food and water. The Triple burner is made up of three parts. The upper burner consisting of the heart and lungs (described as a “mist”) disperses the essence of food and qi. The middle burner consists of the stomach and spleen (a “cauldron”) churning food and water into a digestible soup-like consistency. The lower burner encompasses all the organs below the navel (a “swamp”) acting as a sewage system for excreting waste.
